Well, I love the vocals in the end of the song, but not the outro. I can picture Brian doing something like this live:
Iiiiii (5 sec pause)
Iiiiii (10 sec pause)
Iiiiiiii (15 sec pause)
Will baaaaaaaaaaaaaaattle
for the (20 sec pause)
Suuuuuuuuuuun (the end of the song)

I love the sound of guitars, there are several things going on, nicely produced, but the music itself isn't really groundbreaking.
I mean, that piano in the chorus - haven't we heard this before?

The intro sounds like a homage to QotSA.
I dare to think that "Dream brother" is a homage to Jeff Buckley and "I have stared down the barrel of a gun" is, naturally, to Depeche Mode.
or Beastie Boys? well, who knows...

Pardon this little bit of criticism, hardcore placebo fans!
I still think that this song is better than, say, Because I Want You.

My first listen I was a bit disapointed with the lyircs, and kind of annoyed by the repetions. The chorus sounds amazing though, and the climax! The lyrics have really grown on me now, I think if they weren't sung with so much emotion I would have a different view. A lot of people are mentioning how QotSA the song sounds, but I can pick out bits of Sonic Youth as well, anyway, it still sounds very Placebo with strong drumming and bass, and layered guitar. The strings are also lovely.
