Meltdown Festival have called out Viagogo for selling higher priced tickets, claiming that any tickets bought through touts on the site will be invalid.
The Robert Smith-curated festival went on general sale this morning, with countless fans left empty handed after long queues for ticket sites. Promptly, re-sell sites such as Viagogo were found to be selling tickets to Nine Inch Nails for upwards of £800 each.
Meltdown have now responded via Twitter, writing: “@viagogo It is against our terms and conditions to sell our tickets above face value for profit or commercial gain. Tickets purchased on your site for any #MeltdownFest concert are invalid. Please direct customers to us who will only pay face value for them.”
The returned tickets will seemingly be available to those who call the Southbank ticket office on the day of the show – the full terms can be found here.
The Cure frontman’s headline-grabbing line-up for the fest saw him following in the footsteps of former curators such as Patti Smith, David Byrne, David Bowie, Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker and most recently MIA,. The past NME Godlike Genius Award winner hand-picked the acts heading to London’s Southbank Centre this June.
Deftones, The Libertines, Manic Street Preachers, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Placebo, The Psychedelic Furs, 65daysofstatic, Alcest, The Anchoress, Kristin Hersh, Kathryn Joseph, MONO, and The Notwist have so far been announced for the 25th edition of the iconic music festival.
